North+Sur's primary content comes in the form of the written word. Through our newsletter, which is available on Substack, North+Sur offers analysis of international relations and political affairs, with a particular focus on the American continent. All of our written content is guided by a commitment to the principles of liberal democracy, multilateral cooperation, and a rules-based international order. We seek to avoid simplistic explanations of complicated issues, preferring to take the time to properly contextualize and explain the questions and decisions facing countries in the region. Our content is rooted in factual analyses and democratic values, not partisan narratives.

Most articles, essays, and opinion pieces are written by Alejandro Hodge Hernández, the host and founder of North+Sur, but on occasion guest writers are invited to share their unique perspective on different questions pertaining to areas of their expertise and personal experience.

North+Sur operates as a bilingual space, publishing all of our written content in both English and Spanish so that readers of different backgrounds can partake fully.
